a slideshow of stills from BBC TV's Operation Grand Canyon

9 brave (insane?) men spent 18 days in the Canyon on this 280 mile journey in replicas of 140 year old boats!

the 3 experienced riverboat men Fred Thevenin, Adam Bringhuag and Tom O'Hara piloted 3 boats crewed by
Bryan Smith (kayaker) - Sam Willis (Marine Historian) - Dougal Jerram (Geologist)
Ben Khan (Boatbuilder) - Dan Snow (TV Presenter) - Mike Dilger (Naturalist)

to do this in such unsuitable craft was amazing, and as Dan Snow said:
"no-one has done this trip since 1869 - and there is probably a reason for that"

my backing audio is a compilation of tunes used in the original TV shows
they really complement the show and were a major part in the enjoyment it gave me.

1. Down to the Valley - Little Axe - soundtrack to the movie 'Holes'
2. The Canyon Song - Sam Willis - became the theme song on the trip
3. Good Morning Freedom - Blue Mink - soundtrack to the 'Breaking Bad' TV show
4. Keep Your Lamps Trimmed and Burning - Philip Henry - a truly brilliant harmonica player

how to best view the show

I have strived to syncronize the audio with the slides for better artistic effect.
I suggest not pausing it as this will put the words out of sync.
enjoy!
